Delicious and easy!
It has been a while that I wanted to make those delicious buttermilk biscuits. I didn’t think it was that easy and quick to make. No need to make it rise for hours, so if you are in a hurry, this recipe is certainly for you. And you won’t need a lot of ingredients. It was perfect to go with the delicious bbq ribs prepared by my hubby. I will post the recipe in a next post if you want, they are gorgeous. Really I mean it! Those delicious buttermilk biscuits can easily be served at breakfast with butter and jam or for lunch/dinner with your salted dishes. Everyone at home loves it! It was a real success. I will make them more often for sure.
100g of butter
250g of flour
125ml of buttermilk
1 tsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
2 tsp of baking powder
How to make your own buttermilk if you don’t have any. Mix 250ml of milk and 20ml of lemon juice or white vinegar. Mix. Let it chill during 10min.
Once it has chilled. Preheat your oven to 200°C
In a mixing bowl, put all the dry ingredients and mix.
Put the butter cut into small pieces and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. About 5mins.
Add the buttermilk, mix with a fork. The dough should not be consistent.
Put the dough on a floured work surface, pat together into a rectangle with a height of 2cm. With a pastry cutter of 5.5cm make 8 circles.
Dispose them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top of each biscuit with a beaten egg.
Bake until it is golden-brown. About 15 minutes.
Served them lukewarm!
